Customer stories

Key have helped over 1 million people decide if equity release is right for them, see what some of them have to say

What's right for you

If you’re already familiar with Key Later Life Finance, you’ll know we believe that your retirement should be just right for you. This is why we take a personal approach to equity release.

We take the time to understand you and your personal circumstances and give you all the information you need to make an informed decision in your own time. Equity release is a complex product with a lifetime commitment so may not be right for everybody, and if equity release isn’t right for you, we’ll tell you.

Over the past 25 years, Key have helped thousands of people enjoy a better retirement through equity release. During that time, we’ve got to know our customers very well.

Here are some of their stories:

69, Retired

The best thing about all of this is I can have the holidays I want, the grandkids are over the moon, their pockets are never empty now. It’s just nice to wake up in the morning and not worry about anything.

It’s extremely rewarding to know we make a difference, and that customers are so willing to share their stories - and some of them are truly inspirational. From the 74-year-old skydiver to the 84-year-old globe-trotting ballroom dancer, our customers are proof that age is nothing but a number.

There are all kinds of reasons our customers opt for equity release such as going on an adventure, for home improvements, to pay off existing debt or support loved ones. Whatever the motivation, we champion the idea of helping people make their retirement dreams a reality, whether that’s healthier finances or a once-in-a-lifetime trip around the world.

Lifetime mortgage benefits

Your specialist equity release adviser will explain:

  • You can unlock cash from your home, tax-free, to help meet your needs in later life
  • You’ll always retain full ownership of your home and can stay in it for as long as you wish with a Key lifetime mortgage
  • You can choose to make reduced or no monthly repayments to suit your circumstances
  • You’ll never owe more than your home’s worth with a Key lifetime mortgage
  • You may be able to remortgage your plan in the future to release further funds or secure a better interest rate, although this isn’t guaranteed and may be subject to early repayment charges

Your equity release adviser will also outline the following important things to think about:

  • A lifetime mortgage is a loan secured against your home and subject to compound interest, meaning the amount you owe can grow quickly
  • Equity release will reduce the value of your estate and may affect your entitlement to means-tested benefits
  • Equity release may leave you with limited or no property equity remaining
  • Equity release will reduce your financial options in the future
  • A lifetime mortgage is a long-term financial product and is not designed to be fully repaid until the death or entry into long-term care of the last remaining borrower, otherwise early repayment charges may apply

Things to consider

  • All our equity release advice relates to Key lifetime mortgages only - a loan secured against your home
  • The loan, plus compound interest, is typically repaid through the sale of the property when the last remaining applicant passes away or moves into long-term care
  • Our fixed advice fee of £1,299 is only payable on completion
